Rehabilitation with accommodation

Addiction rehabilitation services with accommodation provide a stable and safe environment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to users with alcohol, drug or gambling abuse or addiction problems. Reintegration services are also available.

Located in Baie-Comeau, the residential centre can accommodate a total of 12 adults under the supervision of educators, human relations officers and medical staff. The period of accommodation is 28 days, but it may vary depending on the professional evaluation of the users’ needs.

To access these services, you must be evaluated and referred by our professionals or by an addiction rehabilitation centre from another region.

As for young people between 12 and 17 years old, they are referred to out-of-region specialized resources.

Services for family and friends

Someone close to you (parent, spouse, sibling, etc.) has alcohol, drug or gambling problems? Our team of professionals will help you:

  • Understand the situation;
  • Improve your well-being;
  • Identify the behaviours to adopt with the addicted person;
  • Improve your relationships with this person.

You can get services even if the addicted person close to you is not registered to our program.

The ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux offers a portal with information on alcohol, drug and gambling addiction problems and interesting tools to support parents: /typo3conf/l10n/fr/rtehtmlarea/Resources/Private/Language/fr.locallang_accessibilityicons.xlf:external_link_new_window_altTextwww.dependances.gouv.qc.ca (French only).

Reintegration

Reintegration services are aimed at improving users’ living conditions in their environment. Using the RÉSO grid, an evaluation tool, intervenors are able to identify reintegration needs (e.g.: food, economic condition, study or work, clothing, hygiene, housing, leisure).

Reintegration mainly translates into information sharing, referencing and accompaniment to different community resources. You must be referred by our professionals to have access to these services.

Program to Assess and Reduce the Risk of Impaired Driving

The Program to Assess and Reduce the Risk of Impaired Driving allows the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec to make an informed decision regarding the recovery or the maintenance of the driver’s license. Porte-en-soi

The Porte-en-soi program responds to one of the priority measures of the Youth Action Strategy 2009-2014, which is the implementation of an action plan that focuses specifically on addiction for young people in youth protection.

The very innovative nature of our program lies in the fact that youth and addiction workers have combined their expertise, their interests and their efforts to develop workshop content and joint facilitation. Participants in the program are boys and girls between 15 and 17 years old with a consumption problem. Their participation in the program is based on their voluntary commitment.

Porte-en-soi has three components:

  1. A series of six thematic group workshops offered on a weekly basis: initial contact, pleasure, needs and consumption, reasons for consumption, risk and protection factors, and change. Scenarios in each workshop are aimed at raising the participants’ interest, commitment and reflection;
  2. Individual interviews to follow up on the more personal aspects related to the experiences from the workshops;
  3. The identification and carrying out of a personal project to share at the end of the workshops.

The objectives of the program are to:

  • Allow the teenager to better identify their personal needs and the place of substance use in meeting their needs;
  • Explore and experiment satisfying and adapted ways to “buzz” in the carrying out of a personal project;
  • Increase self-esteem by generating their commitment in a positive process taking advantage of their strengths;
  • Develop an intervention taking advantage of the expertise of intervenors of the youth and addiction rehabilitation programs.

Screening

Several websites offer screening tests for alcohol, drug or gambling addiction, such as /typo3conf/l10n/fr/rtehtmlarea/Resources/Private/Language/fr.locallang_accessibilityicons.xlf:external_link_new_window_altTextToxquebec.com

If you think you have an addiction problem, do not hesitate to communicate with a worker of the CISSS de la Côte-Nord.

Provincial resources

Alcohol, drug and gambling addiction may affect the family, professional, psychological or social life of those with these behaviours or of their relatives. Various resources and tools are available to help them.
