Postnatal follow-up
Postnatal visit: When they leave the hospital, new parents can benefit from a follow-up from the CLSC, including, among other things, a call 24 to 48 hours after their return home, as well as a home visit. If necessary, the nursing follow up can continue according to the situation.
You, Me, Baby program
You, Me, Baby is a program to promote the mental health and well-being of future and new parents. With various tools and strategies, it aims to prevent postpartum anxiety and depression.
OLO program and 1000 days to enjoy life
The program is offered to pregnant women and families who live in a context of economic vulnerability. It consists of personalized assistance provided by a caseworker who supports the family during the child’s first 1000 days, namely from pregnancy until the child reaches two years old. This support includes:
- Themed meetings
- Tools, tips, prenatal vitamins and food vouchers
- Vouchers to redeem OLO food at the grocery store (one egg per day as well as one litre of milk and one bag of frozen vegetables per week)
- Vouchers for other products are also available.
Integrated perinatal and early childhood services (SIPPE) program intended for families living in a vulnerable situation
The program provides support to ensure the global development of children. It can be spread out from the start of pregnancy, until the child starts school. Depending on the expressed needs, several professionals can provide support: nurse, nutritionist, dental hygienist, psychosocial educator and worker. It is intended for future and new parents experiencing financial difficulties and who:
- Have no secondary school diploma or vocational diploma
- Deal with feelings of isolation or loneliness
Agir tôt program
The Agir tôt program is intended for children between 0 and 5 years old and their family. It aims to detect hints of difficulties in a child’s development as early as possible in order to direct them towards the appropriate services at the right time.

Immunization of infants
Child vaccination starts at two months of age and continues according to the schedule of the
Québec Immunization Program.
Breastfeeding clinic (Baie-Comeau)
The breastfeeding clinic supports mothers who have breastfeeding difficulties. A nurse works in collaboration with physicians of the University family medicine group (GMF-U). The clinic is located at the CLSC Lionel-Charest and is open every Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
