Regional liaison officer

An interpreter and accompaniment service in English and Naskapi is available at health and social services facilities in Sept-Îles. To talk to the liaison officer, Ms. Sharon Tardif, call 418-965-7621 or simply pick up the phone at the entrance of the emergency department or at the main entrance of the hospital, at 45, rue du Père-Divet.

The main tasks of the liaison officer are to:

  • Welcome and inform the clientele about the available services
  • Accompany the English-speaking clientele
  • Act as a liaison from one service to another to ensure continuity of service
  • Support workers as they communicate with the English-speaking clientele
  • Act as an interpreter

A few days before your trip or your appointment, contact the liaison officer to book an appointment and thus ensure you have access to this service!

Traveling to Québec to receive health care? The guide assigned to users is there to help you during your stay in Québec. Mr. Steve Guimond offers several services, notably to help you find your way around the city and the hospital, find lodging, coordinate interpretation services, facilitate the provision of services by ensuring good communication, and provide emotional support in order to break feelings of isolation while receiving care.

Language training in English and in French (for personnel)

What is it exactly?

  • It is funded by Health Canada and managed by McGill University and the MSSS
  • It supports the personnel from the health and social services network who provide care and services to English-speaking persons
  • It is an additional tool that strengthens the regional program of access to services in the English language

Who should apply? The personnel of the health and social services network on the Côte-Nord who work directly with the population and the users. For example, persons who work at the reception desk, in the evaluation and the orientation of users, as well as those working within clinical teams.

The CISSS de la Côte-Nord is happy to employ the services of an internal translator for communications intended for users and the English-speaking population.


Campaign: Follow the yellow!

Simple and easy to remember, the slogan Follow the yellow! guides English-speaking persons towards services that are accessible in English. By following the different yellow elements, you will be able to find resources and tools in English.
